Speak With Power and Grace:
A Woman's Guide to Public Speaking
Speak with Power and Grace addresses the major concerns women face at the lectern, such as establishing creditability, voice power, and positive gestures and body image. How to prepare a speech by asking 26 critical questions; how to practice, using 10 proven techniques; 30 rules for making and using visual aids correctly; platform techniques and etiquette for women; and how to control nervousness at the lectern are just a few of the topics covered in this book.
What women say about Speak With Power and Grace
Pauline Shirley, Past President Toastmasters International, said: A guide written by a woman for women, this book is a necessity for all women. In these times when women may think they must forsake grace for power or power for grace, this book combines the elements of effective speaking simultaneously and synonymously promulgating both qualities.
Mary Pebley, former Manager of Education for the American Business Women's Association relates: Members of ABWA have told me that one of the most valuable skills they can develop is that of communication with poise and confidence, I think this book will be an effective tool for all women to do just that.
About the Author
Recognizing the need to hone her public speaking skills, Linda D. Swink joined Toastmasters International in 1986. She has never forgotten that feeling of terror as she faced her first audience. Linda learned in the friendly, warm and supportive atmosphere of Toastmasters to control her fear and make a speech without fainting. From that experience, she shares her knowledge with other women, helping them turn ordinary speeches into powerful presentations in her workshop and seminars.
In addition to conducting workshops, Linda has been the guest speaker at luncheons, Master of Ceremonies for speech contests, presenter at District and Regional Toastmaster conferences across the country, and was the featured speaker at the American Business Women's Association 1997 Spring Conference in Bowling Green, KY.
